Director of Whitetail Deer Breeding & Hunting Preserve Operations

Kentucky Trophy Deer, located in Olaton, Kentucky (Western Kentucky), is looking for a top-notch, full-time experienced Director of Whitetail Deer Breeding & Hunting Preserve Operations. We are looking for a self-motivated, hands on individual that can lead a team to continue our pursuit of providing the “Ultimate Whitetail Hunting Experience” for our clients and to manage our world class whitetail deer breeding operation.

Responsibilities
• Manage a team of full time employees, summer interns and seasonal hunting guides
• Build relationships and network with clients, deer breeders and regulatory contacts
• Assist in guiding clients on trophy whitetail hunts and scoring, field dressing and caping
• Manage tagging and vaccinating of all deer including new born fawns
• Manage and assist with performing herd checks
• Record all health records (birth, death and bottle feeding) into GMS PRO
• Maintain herd inventory
• Ensure fawn facility cleaning and maintenance daily, including but not limited to monitoring watering systems in pens and throughout farm, checking deer feeders
• Administer various medications, vaccinations and perform physical exams, and behavioral observations of both adult deer and fawns
• Manage treatment of all deer related injuries and/or illnesses
• Correct darting and sedation techniques
• Assist with breeding of animals, live cover, vaginal insemination and laparoscopic insemination
• Collect and process semen from bucks, live and post mortem
• Assist with health care of adult deer
• Ensure water troughs are cleaned daily
• Hands on management with any day-to-day farm maintenance of equipment and food plots, etc.
• Keep up with industry trends and seek out best practices
• Maintain state, federal and regulatory compliance and internal policies
• Handle special projects, as assigned

Education and Experience
• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• 4-year college degree in wildlife, animal sciences, agriculture, or related field preferred
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in deer breeding operations
• Mechanical ability

Location: Olaton, Kentucky (Western Kentucky)

Pay is based on previous experience. A pre-employment background and reference check will be conducted.

Amenities: Five-bedroom housing provided excluding utilities, farm truck available for work and occasional personal use. Gun range, 20-target archery range and fully stocked pond for family enjoyment.
